SIR— I was touched and impressed by Mr Elvis Basudde’s testimony in your paper on Wednesday this week on how he has managed to live with HIV.
His testimony is an inspiring piece on how infected people one can continue to live positively with HIV.
The man’s love for fellow human beings is touching. You can see it in the way he went public over the calamity, I suppose in order to save others.
His resolve not to be bothered by the question of who infected him but to forge ahead with life is also touching. His advice to the youth to avoid contracting the disease is invaluable.
But most of all is his admonition to society not to shun those living with HIV. It brings out the biblical golden rule — love your neighbour as you love yourself, or treat other people as you would like them to treat you.
I salute Basudde for his courage, determination and love for other people.
