Two children of the former speaker of Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom were on Christmas day thrown out of St. Matthew’s Cathedral in Masindi, where they had gone to attend prayers.

Ernest Kiiza’s children, Vanessa Kiiza, 10 and Winnie Kajjumba, 7, were ordered by a male usher to leave the church.

“He came where we were seated and asked us where our father was. When we told him that he had stayed at home, he ordered us to get out of the church, saying our father is satanic and full of demons,” Vanessa said at their home in Nyangahya in Masindi town council.

Kiiza is one of the laity who lost a case against Archbishop Henry Luke Orombi in the High Court recently.

They were challenging the election of Stanely Ntagali, the new bishop of Masindi-Kitara diocese.

However, Kiiza’s two colleagues, John Majara (the district chairperson) and Jacob Karubanga (the speaker) seem to have lost interest in the case.

Kiiza said he had got more reason to oppose Ntagali’s election in the courts of law.
