Lawyers representing Mbarara municipality MP Winnie Byanyima have asked the High Court to review her bail conditions as regards her passport, reports Edith Kimuli. In an application filed on Wednesday, Byanyima said depositing her passport in court should be scrapped off her bail conditions. On Wednesday, court released Byanyima’s passport for the fourth time since she deposited it on April 17, 2001. She was told to retain it for the duration of the treatment. However, her lawyer, Erias Lukwago yesterday said he would pursue the application of having the passport back for good. In an affidavit in support of the application, “Byanyima is an MP and a women leader. Her duties involve travelling abroad and to attend conferences.” Byanyima said the procedure she is required to go through to access the passport sometimes makes it impossible to obtain it in time. “I have a big stake in our politics. I have proved my conduct,” she said. Ends
