By Reuben Olita in NairobiCECAFA will decide which candidate to support for FIFA presidency when the council convenes a special assembly in Nairobi March 30, secretary Nicholas Musonye disclosed yesterday. He said the region’s declaration on the FIFA elections will be the highlight of the council’s blueprint to be discussed by the member countries and council’s executive officials. The proposal encompasses a comprehensive youth programme, Cecafa’s campaign in the 2004 Nations Cup, coaches and referees programmes, with FIFA’s June elections being top on the agenda. The CAF executive is due to meet in Cairo today to decide whether to back Sepp Blatter for a second term or to support a challenge by continental president Issa Hayatou.“We will go where CAF goes. We don’t want to have cracks between CAF and CECAFA since we have had enough problems before,” Musonye said.He added that they would prefer to vote as a block instead of going for the polls when they are divided.During the last FIFA elections in 1998, then Cecafa secretary Sammy Obingo supported Blatter while CAF threw its weight behind UEFA chief Lennart Johansson, thus earning the Kenyan a suspension by the iron-fisted Hayatou.CAF vice president and Cecafa supremo, Farah Addo recently accused Blatter of having used money to influence voters to elect him.ends
