THE Government is to spend approximately sh5b on the renovation of the East African Civil Aviation Academy (EACAA) in Soroti, reports Martin Kiiza. The move is aimed at equipping and furnishing the school so as to raise it to international standard.The renovations are to be done in three phases, of short, medium and long term programmes under the newly established East African Community Development strategy Fraternity.This was disclosed by the newly appointed chairman of a seven-man management advisory task force, Mugere Baliddawa, at the inauguration ceremony held at the academy on Thursday. “We shall need about sh5b from the government to start off the immediate short term programme in a bid to transform this institution,” Baliddawa said.He added that the money would also be used to purchase academic materials and literature.Officiating at the function, the minister of state in charge of Housing, Francis Babu, said the government was fully committed to improving the standards of the academy by funding the institution.Ends
