LECTURERS at the Islamic University In Uganda (IUIU) are on a sit-down strike with a few days to the graduation day scheduled for Saturday, April 20.

By Kenneth Otim LECTURERS at the Islamic University In Uganda (IUIU) are on a sit-down strike with a few days to the graduation day scheduled for Saturday, April 20.The full-time lecturers are demanding payment of their salaries since the beginning of this academic year.However, the part-time lecturers are continuing with their lectures.Some lecturers told the New Vision that they might not attend the graduation ceremony if the strike continues.The IUIU ninth graduation ceremony is to be presided over by President Yoweri Museveni and the chairman of the Organisation of Islamic Conference (OIC) Hajji Hirirji.The acting academic registrar, sultan Juma Kakuba, said 334 students are to graduate BA mass communication, BA social sciences, Islamic studies, education and business studies.
