Mukono district probation office has rescued a four-year-old girl who was starved for over two months.
Nakayima Nabatta (pictured) lost both parents and was adopted by her aunt Harriet Nayiga, of Namuyenje village, Mukono.
Mukono district probation officer James Ntege told The New Vision that Nabatta was starved for over two months.
“This kid said her maternal aunt was not giving her food for the last two months. She was locked inside a rental room in Namuyenje village,’’ Ntege said.
Nakayima’s face and hands had scars which indicated she was tortured.
She featured swollen eyes, a wrinkled skin around her waist and visible ribs.
Nakayima who talked with difficulty said her aunt beat and put her in a basin full of water.
However, Nayiga said she did not starve the kid, “I could not allow my sister’s kid to starve like that. Whatever food I fed her on she would vomit it,’’ she said. Ends
