The First lady, Mrs. Janet Museveni, yesterday attended the 4th annual parliamentary prayer breakfast at the Kampala Sheraton Hotel.
Speaking on the theme of the year, “Leadership in Crisis”, Mrs. Museveni called upon Ugandans in leadership positions to be sensitive to the needs and rights of their people. She said being sensitive to the people’s future qualifies one to be a true leader.
She said Uganda as a young nation needs a united leadership which goes for the right and not necessarily the popular.
She said as a nation that has had a history of conflicts, Uganda needs a new spirit and new leadership that focuses on the future of the nation other than the future of the leadership and systems.
She commended MPs for maintaining the breakfast prayer, something she said could strengthen Uganda as a God-fearing nation.
The state minister for Luweero, Tim Lwanga, said the MPs want the prayer breakfast day to be declared a national day for prayer and thanksgiving.
