COMPASSION International, a charity NGO operating in Uganda, is to educate over 1,000 children in Kasese district through the South Rwenzori Diocese.
The Diocesan dean of St. Paul Cathedral, Rev. Jackson Nzerebende, made the announcement at the cathedral on Sunday.
Nzerebende told a big congregation that the programme would benefit children in the five parishes of St. Paul which include Maliba, Muzahura, Kyempara and Kajwenge, where each beneficiary parish will forward 200 children between five and eight years.
According to one of the programme implementers in the diocese, Ivan Syauswa, beneficiary children are to get free education and the necessary requirements from primary to university level.
Syauswa said others to benefit included children from the poorest poor families in the area.
