Car Trackers (Kenya) Ltd. and their Ugandan counterpart have recovered the brand new Toyota Hilux double cabin pick-up truck from robbers after an exchange of gunfire with Kenyan Police, reports Hilary Kiirya.

The sh50m vehicle that belongs to the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) was robbed at gunpoint from its driver at Bukoto on October 10.

It was recovered the next day in Kenya en-route to Tanzania, which was believed to be the last destination.

The vehicle was formally registered as UG 0147J at the time it was robbed from Charles Onyango but had been changed to UAD 476R with a forged emblem and bore serial No. TZS300,063522.
Onyango was held incommunicado for four hours until the robbers crossed the Uganda-Kenya border.

He was later dumped in Kajjansi.
Onyango had been in the custody of other robbers in Uganda who were communicating with those in the vehicle.

The vehicle was recovered when Car Trackers Uganda alerted Car Trackers Kenya.
