JUNIOR Kwebiiha has been named the inaugural Castle Lager league man-of-the-series.
The all rounder picked his award at the league’s prize giving ceremony at Lugogo on Sunday. Wanderers CC were also crowned league winners after going through the season unbeaten.
Kwebiiha’s ability to lead his team (ACC) from the front, his consistency with the bat and ball made him outstanding in a category also contested by Michael Ndiko (Wanderers), Baig Akbar (Tornado) and Nehal Bibodi (Tornado).
He had a batting average of 43.92 and picked 32 wickets for 528 runs in 121.1 overs. He also had nine catches and orchestrated two run outs.
“It has been a great season for me with a lot of hard work. The competition has been tight among players and I am extremely privileged to walk away with this award,†Kwebiiha said.
Wanderers’ 16-year-old Hamza Saleh walked away with the annual Yosia Matovu best -young-player award. He is captain of the national U-17 squad.
Sensational Kenneth Kamyuka, in South Africa for semi-professional stint , was crowned best bowler (45 wickets for 389 runs, 15 maidens in 92.4 overs).
Destroyers were also crowned Champion’s Cup winners. NCS general secretary Abbey Lutaya, Indian High Commission’s Mohammed Kasmjee, Entebbe MP David Byatike Matovu and Nile Breweries Mike Olsen, graced the ceremony.
