Eight Ugandan International Amateur Athletics Federation (IAAF) level one coaches have been recommended for a level two course.

Eight Ugandan International Amateur Athletics Federation (IAAF) level one coaches have been recommended for a level two course.
The coaches excelled in the just concluded IAAF level one course held in Kampala.
Patrick Mwambu from Mbale was the best student in the IAAF examinations supervised by the federation’s level one instructors Nganga Ngata of Kenya and Uganda’s Byaruhanga Kadodooba.
Ngata said Uganda is among the few African countries which have excelled in the course.
Other coaches recommended for the level two course are Martin Okello (Kampala), Faustin Kiwa (Arua), James Mugyenyi (Mbarara), Michael Torito (Kapchorwa) and John Bosco Masiko, (Mubende).
The women who excelled were Aisha Bagaya (Kampala) and Josephine Awar (Lira).
These were part of 24 athletics coaches Uganda Amateur Athletics Federation (UAAF) called for the two-week course which started in Kampala on December 4.
The course is part of IAAF coaches education and certification system (CECES) programme that is aimed at getting sufficient coaches for athletics.
While closing the course at Grand Imperial Hotel, UAAF president Sulaiman Habib urged the coaches to use the knowledge acquired to train potential athletes who will redeem Uganda’s glory.
“You have to look for athletes to train and bring medals to Uganda. Athletics is one of the medal winners for the country,†Habib said.
Uganda Olympic Committee vice president, also coaches boss Moses Twesige-Omwe told UAAF to liaise with the regional athletics body to hold a level II course in Uganda.
