Mubaje Pleads For Unity

SHEIKH Shaban Ramadhan Mubajje, the Mufti of Uganda, has urged Muslems not to rebel against the Government since it has united Muslims in the country, reports Ebenezer Bifubyeka.

SHEIKH Shaban Ramadhan Mubajje, the Mufti of Uganda, has urged Muslems not to rebel against the Government since it has united Muslims in the country, reports Ebenezer Bifubyeka. “There were rebellions amongst Muslems in various mosques in the country. Muslems used to fight in mosques and they would pray under guard by armed anti-riot Police,” he said.Mubajje said this on Tuesday when opening a three-day Imams workshop at Nyamitanga Secondary School in Mbarara. The workshop attracted about 200 participants from Mbarara, Kabale, Bushenyi and Rukungiri districts.The mufti hailed the Government for saving Moslems from disunity.“In the year 2000, the Government granted Muslems the Uganda Muslem Supreme Council. I thank all the Muslems for supporting me as their leader. This showed your eagerness for unity because there were no elections,” he said.Mubajje also called for unity among the religions in the country.Ends
