LT-Gen Salim Saleh is in London attending to private matters contrary to rumours that he was critically ill, reports Yunusu Abbedy. Speaking to The New Vision by telephone last evening, Saleh said, “I am here having my tea. If Ugandans want to know, tell everybody what I am doing now.” He said he had a successful surgery on his arm in a German hospital where he was in December last year. In September, the same arm was operated on in a Kampala hospital. The New Vision had sought Saleh’s comment following allegations in Kampala that he was in a grave medical condition. A jovial Saleh said, “I am too busy to comment about such rumours. “Whoever is spreading the rumours should have used effective intelligence,” said Saleh, a UPDF Member of Parliament and Commander of the Reserve Force. Speaking from their home in Mbuya, Saleh’s wife Jovia, who gave The New Vision her husband’s contact in London, said “This is no longer news because the rumours have been going on for some time.” Juma Seiko, Saleh’s personal assistant and Saleh’s other family members were equally perturbed by the allegations circulating in Kampala. Seiko said, “There should be no cause for alarm. The concerns are baseless rumours.” Ends
