Shaka Ssali With Museveni!

SIR— I want to express my distaste at the way VOA’s Shaka Ssali treated the President during the May 15 interview in Washington.

SIR— I want to express my distaste at the way VOA’s Shaka Ssali treated the President during the May 15 interview in Washington. Firstly, he began with a needlessly profuse and over-earnest welcome. I do not think the international audience should have been put through such an introduction. All he had to do was give a standard welcome and then proceed with his job. If he had personal problems with Mr Museveni, he could have settled that privately. Secondly, he took long explaining to the President, right before his face, the reason why Kizza Besigye was not allowed on the show. I think it was in bad taste to tell a head of state in such detail the reasons for the preferential treatment; it should have been taken for granted. Lastly, the issue in Uganda is not Besigye any more, but more important ones like the economy (AGOA and PMA) and the Parties Bill.Peter Ogoro Kampala
