Rebels Kill RDC Escort

A UPDF escort of Pader RDC Emojong Amaitum was yesterday killed when LRA rebels in Pader ambushed the RDC’s vehicle, reports Dennis Ojwee.The driver, David Vollo, who was kidnapped and the deputy RDC of Kitgum, Deo Mutagirwa, and five other escorts who fled in disarray during the attack, were later rescued by UPDF and taken to Pader district headquarters.The ambush occurred at about 1.00p.m. around Pajule and Labongo-Loo, about 10 miles on Pader district headquarters and Pajule, Aruu county headquarters.The UPDF 4th Division Spokesman, Lt. Paddy Ankunda, confirmed that one UPDF soldier was killed and five others, all not identified, fled into the bushes unhurt. The vehicle was burnt to ashes.The vehicle, registration number UC0022 was reportedly heading to Pajule from Pader district headquarters to collect Pader Deputy RDC, Sylvester Opira, where he reportedly went on some official duties. Kitgum RDC, Santos Okot Lapolo and LC 5 boss Pader regretted the ambush.The rebels dismantled a mounted Radio Call system from the vehicle and fled with it.Ends
