‘Straight Talk’ Visits AGOA Girls

The team, led by Toepista Agutu, the chief editor of the foundation’s publication visited the 1,000 girls undergoing training at the Tri-Star Apparel Exports Limited plant in Bugolobi.Beatrice Bainomugisha, the head of the monitoring and evaluation division briefed the girls about the activities of the Straight Talk Foundation saying that they were following up Museveni’s stern warning to the girls on sex.“This is the right time for us to come and address their sexual reproductive health problems to stem issues like unwanted pregnancies, self esteem and STD/HIV/AIDS infections,” Bainomugisha said.Bainomugisha said the purpose of their visit was to further concretise Museveni’s message of abstinence until the girls are through with their training. “Some of them have already had sex, but we want to help them handle the situation better. We don’t want them to get infections like HIV/AIDS, unwanted pregnancies as well as other problems,” Bainomugisha said.400 copies of the recent issue of the Straight Talk publication were given to the girls. Agutu said that the girls will receive every issue that will come out. There was a scramble for the copies.During the launch of the training centre last Saturday, Museveni advised the girls to postpone sex relations until they are through with training.Ends
