Iguru Wedding Given Sh45m By Museveni

PRESIDENT Yoweri Museveni has contributed sh45m towards the wedding of the Omukama of Bunyoro-Kitara, Solomon Gafabusa Iguru, writes Amlan Tumusiime and Martin Kaahwa.

PRESIDENT Yoweri Museveni has contributed sh45m towards the wedding of the Omukama of Bunyoro-Kitara, Solomon Gafabusa Iguru, writes Amlan Tumusiime and Martin Kaahwa. The royal function taking place today, will see the Omukama wed Margaret Karunga at Duhaga Cathedral, Hoima.Museveni’s contribution was delivered to Iguru’s official residence at Karuziika palace by the Omukama’s senior advisor, Dr. David Kihumuro Apuuli. Kihumuro is also the director general of the Uganda Aids Commission.A senior kingdom source said on Thursday, “Its true the president has given us sh45m to support the royal wedding and empango celebrations. We have already received the money. We are very grateful to the President,” he said.President Museveni and all other cultural leaders are expected to attend the function. The Kabaka of Buganda, Ronald Mutebi’s advance team arrived in the district days before.Most of the prominent hotels in the district were fully booked by Friday evening.Retired bishop of Mityana Diocese Yokana Mukasa is to wed Iguru. He will be assisted by the newly consecrated bishop of Bunyoro Kitara Diocese, Nathan Kyamanywa. About 4,000 special visitors have been invited for the function.The national chairman of the organising committee, Muganwa Kajura, said all Banyoro and their friends were invited for the occasion.Ends
