In his message during the Christmans season, the Archbishop, Livingstone Mpalanyi Nkoyooyo, said Christians should “give a chance for peace to take shape, not through military confrontation, but through peace talks, forgiveness and reconciliation.

“We have for a long time been torn apart by political and ethnic conflict enhanced by a spirit of greed, selfishness and pride. These have been responsible for much of the turmoil and insurgency in our communities especially in the north,” the prelate said.

He said peaceful methods of conflict resolution had worked in many communities and families the world over, save Uganda.

Nkoyooyo said violence had bred hate, bitterness and isolation, which could be witnessed by the presence of endless camps in the country and the declining faith in God.
