By Lillian Nalumansi VISITING Chinese Vice-President Hu Jintao yesterday met President Yoweri Museveni at State House, Nakasero, where they discussed ways to strengthen relationship between the two countries. Jintao said his visit was to promote mutual understanding between the two peoples and put the Sino-Ugandan friendship on a sound footing, a statement from Hope Kivengere, Museveni's press secretary, said. Jintao thanked Museveni for supporting Beijing's efforts to create one China through the unification of mainland China and Taiwan. He commended Museveni on the peace, political stability and economic development Uganda has witnessed under the Movement leadership and pledged his country's readiness to enhance the development. "Hu Jintao said a joint venture to handle Uganda coffee exports to China will be established and two coffee shops are being set up in the Chinese capital of Beijing to promote the consumption of Ugandan coffee among Chinese," Kivengere said. Museveni thanked China for her historical contribution to the liberation struggles in Africa and for her solidarity with the African people in building their economies. Museveni told his guest that Africa's problems centred on underdeveloped human resource and fragmented markets. But he said the problems were being overcome through education and integrating African markets. Ends.
