CANDIDATE Yoweri Museveni was headed for a landslide win last night as he consolidated his lead in Monday's presidential elections.
Kizza Besigye was in second place, while Aggrey Awori was just ahead of Kibirige Mayanja.
Chapaa Karuhanga and Francis Bwengye had little support as polling centres continued to file results throughout the day and part of last night.
The Electoral Commission is expected to announce the winner this afternoon.
With results from over 100 of Uganda's 214 constituencies announced, Museveni was leading with about 70% of the vote, and Besigye was at around 25%.
In Karamoja, most constituencies gave Museveni over 90% (see checklist on pages 7-8, 33-34).
In Kotido District, Jie county Museveni polled
21,034 (95.8%) of votes cast, with Besigye at 569, Kibirige 182, Awori 71, Bwengye 58 and Karuhanga 32.
In Labwor county Museveni got 13,279 (93.8%), Besigye 742, Kibirige 56, Awori 33, Bwengye 32 and Karuhanga 13. Bokora gave Museveni 20,269 (96.3%), Besigye 382, Kibirige 151, Bwengye 112, Awori 96 and Karuhanga 46.
Besigye was sweeping Gulu. In the Municipality, he got 20,770 votes out of 27,719. Museveni was far behind in second place with 5,666 and Awori 764.
Besigye also swept Lamwo in Kitgum with 17,324.
Museveni got 8,389, Kibirige 974 and Awori 546.
Arua district gave Besigye 51.1%, followed by Museveni at 37.1%, Kibirige 2.7%, Awori 2.2%, Karuhanga 1.4% and Bwengye 1.2%.
The newly created district of Yumbe gave Besigye 19,471 votes, and Museveni 11,541.
In East Moyo county in Adjumani district, Museveni polled 14,944 and Besigye 8,891.
In Kasese district, Museveni polled 63,398 while Besigye polled 33,086, Mayanja polled 1,219, Awori 511, Bwengye 312 and Karuhanga 163.
In the new Wakiso district, Museveni polled 123,122 while Besigye polled 102,065, Mayanja 2,049, Bwengye polled 207 and Karuhanga 91.
Museveni swept the newly created Sironko district with 76%. He polled 88,618 while Besigye polled 22,612, Mayanja polled 207, Awori 289, Karuhanga 120 and Bwengye 94.
Results were still expected from one polling station in Bulambuli county.
In Kumi district, Museveni polled 50,472 while Besigye polled 42,390. Awori polled 1,795, Mayanja 1,646, Bwengye polled 983 and Karuhanga polled 329.
In Bubulo East in Mbale district, Museveni polled 47,123 (92.8%) while Besigye 3,297, Awori and Kibirige polled 113 and 182 respectively.
Results from all the 90 polling stations in Bubulo West showed Museveni leading with 30,596 votes (79.7%), Besigye 7,432, Awori 206.
In Bungokho South county Museveni polled 29,830, Besigye 13,036 and Awori 283. Results from 50 of the 79 polling stations in Bungokho North showed Museveni leading with 11,440 votes, Besigye 7,700 and Kibirige 293.
In Mbale Municipality Museveni polled 11,975 (51.8%) and Besigye 10,342 (44.8%).
In Padyere county, Nebbi, Museveni led with 65.2% compared to Besigye's 28.4%. while Awori polled 4.5%.
In Okoro county, Museveni polled 30,654 (73.6%), Besigye 8,504 and Kibirige 566. Museveni swept Kapchorwa district by 87.4%. compared to Besigye's 10%.
In Tingei county Museveni polled 23,152 compared to Besigye's 4,492. In Kongasis he polled 15,752 compared to Besigye's 805 and in Kween he polled 17,898 compared to Besigye's 1,245.
In Mityana North, Mubende district, Museveni polled 18,789 (85.1%) compared to Besigye's 3,049.
In Kashaari county, Mbarara district, Museveni polled 59,784 (89.6%) compared to Besigye's 6,453. Kibirige got 140, Awori 89, Bwengye 73 while Karuhanga trailed with 24.
