By Peter Ekarot ILL-funded army team Military Police beaten 3-0 in Zambia are contemplating pulling out of the Africa Cup winners' cup and forfeit the return leg against Nkana Red Devils. The army side needs sh30m to pay for internal travel and accommodation of Nkana, tickets for match officials and accommodation plus allowances ahead of the April 13 return leg at Nakivubo. The match commissioner is from Malawi and referees will come from Burundi. The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) is reported to be coercing Military to pullout because they were forced to top up the Zambian trip last week by sh3m. The match officials want their money paid in advance because of previous scenarios where they have gone unpaid after handling matches involving Ugandan teams. Sources from FUFA told The New Vision yesterday that Military Police FC top brass plan to meet today and make a decision before Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) is informed. Military Police coordinator Captain Ivan Ntakamarize who was at the federation secretariat at Nakulabye yesterday said the pull out was a proposal being floated by FUFA officials. "We have not made that decision. It was actually FUFA officials who wanted us to pullout and that we pay only $2,000 or $5,000 as CAF fines. "There is a fear that we might abandon the Zambians to FUFA," said Ntakamarize. Federation secretary Godfrey Kisekka said Military should make an early decision before Nkana fly in. FAZ has not yet availed FUFA with the travel arrangements of the dreaded Nkana.
