NEWCOMERS Vienna College, Namugongo on Saturday made the most of home advantage to qualify for their first ever Sprite National schools Basketball championship.

By Douglas Mazune NEWCOMERS Vienna College, Namugongo on Saturday made the most of home advantage to qualify for their first ever Sprite National schools Basketball championship. Vienna, subdued traditional giants Namilyango College and Progressive among others in the 15-team qualifier for Mpigi North zone. Vienna, St Kalemba and St Peter's Naalya boys and girls teams qualified to represent the zone in this year's national championship set for next month at Kabojja SS. In the Mpigi South qualifiers, regular campaigners St Mary's College Kisubi, Ndejje SS and Bishop Mazzolidi sailed through. Qualifying competitions in Kampala, Western, Eastern and Northern region are expected to start soon. They will be joined by national champions Kitante Hill School and hosts Kabojja. Century Bottling Company, under its Sprite brand, sponsors the annual championship organised by National Schools Basketball Association. Meanwhile all the teams that qualified in the region at the weekend, will compete in the Mpigi Regional championship on April 7 at Vienna College. Ends
