KAMPALA – The Government has paid sh10m as compensation to a Makindye Division local council official who was allegedly tortured during his detention by Cheiftancy of Military intelligence agents.

KAMPALA – The Government has paid sh10m as compensation to a Makindye Division local council official who was allegedly tortured during his detention by Cheiftancy of Military intelligence agents. Dan Lutalo, the defence secretary for Lukuli zone, reached an out of court settlement after he filed a petition in the Uganda Human Rights Tribunal against the Attorney General, Lt. Kamugisha Tinka, Mustafa Mayanja and Rashid Ssekamatte. Lutalo recently rejected compensation of sh15m, saying it was too little. Ends
