Mukono district council has resolved to reduce graduated tax by 50% on residents who had not paid their tax this financial year.

By Nicholas Kajoba Mukono district council has resolved to reduce graduated tax by 50% on residents who had not paid their tax this financial year. This resolution was made in the executive council meeting at the district boardroom on Thursday and chaired by the the LC5 chairman, Mr Godfrey Kiwanuka Musisi. In Press release dated April 13, Kiwanuka said the resolution was done temporarily as they wait for the final communications from the local government ministry. "We have reached at this resolution temporarily as we wait for communication from the the ministry of local government,'' Kiwanuka said. He also urged people to start paying their graduated tax in time to avoid being harassed. Kiwanuka said people will continue paying sh1,000 for development tax and sh1,000 for construction of the district headquarters. He appealed to residents to pay trading licences promptly to develop their area. "You must pay your graduated tax and trading licences in order to avoid the closing of your premises by the council authorities,'' he said. Ends
