SC Villa has drawn another Nigerian opposition in Julius Berger nine years after losing to Shooting Stars in 92' CAF Cup final.
Villa faces the Nigerian champions Berger 8-0 winners over little known Sony Ela Nguema of Equatorial Guinea in the second round of the CAF champions cup next month whose first leg is away in Lagos.
Villa has had past success over the Nigerian opposition and only lost 3-0 to Shooting Stars after a 0-0 draw in Kampala to miss their maiden continental trophy, a year after dumping Iwuanyanwu Nationale in the semi finals of Africa Club championship.
Tunisia's Club Africain then beat Villa in the final.
Villa beat all odds on Sunday to get past Burundian giants Vital'O whom they beat at home 2-1 after a 2-2 draw in Kampala. The sweet victory in Bujumbura was heightened since their top striker Andrew Mukasa decided to take an AWOL (away without official leave).
Berger handled by ex-international Tunde Disu had beaten Nguema 5-0 at home and hit them 3-0 away to signal warnings to Villa.
Villa coach Paul Hasule who has been at several of such battles before as both captain and coach said: "We have beaten Nigerian teams before and we know what to do when we go to Nigeria".
Villa jets back tomorrow to prepare for Saturday's derby against Express.
Villa will be a step away from a jackpot of millions of shillings if they overcome the Nigerians to sail into the lucrative mini-league.
Former champions Esperance and Raja Casablanca got contrasting results away before they made it into second round. Raja survived by the away goal rule while Esperance came from behind to win.
