By Geoffrey Kamali AT LEAST six people were admitted to Nsambya Hospital, Kampala, after a gang of over 30 panga-welding youths attacked a nearby village, injuring a dozen people and destroying property, reports Geoffrey. The surprise attack, which took over 30 minutes, occurred at about 7.30pm on Saturday in Nsambya central zone village. It sent pedestrians, motorists and patrons drinking at verandah pubs into disarray. Police sources said the motive of the attack was not known. They said they rushed to the scene to verify the reports but that none of the victims had reported the case by yesterday. "We have deployed foot patrols to catch them, but it will be difficult for us to continue with investigations if nobody reports to us," said Albert Ochieng, the OC at Katwe Police Station said. Eyewitnesses said the gang, carrying bags with stones, daggers and pangas accompanied by two dogs raided the village and started chasing whoever they came across. They also robbed a number of people returning home from an evening prayer service at Nsambya Youth Sharing hall of personal property like mobile phones and handbags. They later damaged a vehicle.
