By John Thawite THIRTY-FOUR Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) rebels, including five commanders, have surrendered to the UPDF in eastern DR Congo. Maj. Adula Mawa Muhindo, a field commander in-charge of operations in Mutwanga and Mwenda in eastern Congo, said the rebels surrendered on Monday. He said the rebels handed over 13 AK47 assault rifles. He said the five commanders were Dennis Rukare, Josephat Kabaka, Edward Rukare, Heko Kule and Mukirania Rukare. Mawa said Dennis Rukare was the arms commander and deputy to Abdalah Yusuf Kabanda, the ADF leader. Dennis Rukare and Josephat Kabaka hail from Munkunyu and Ihandiro sub-counties, Kasese district. By press time, the rebels were still in Mutwanga awaiting transfer to Kasese. The surrender comes hardly a week after the army killed two top ADF commanders and captured two women fighters. Ends
