President Yoweri Museveni is today slated to meet Mbarara district movement and opinion leaders.

By James Mujuni President Yoweri Museveni is today slated to meet Mbarara district movement and opinion leaders. The deputy Resident District Commissioner, Mr. John Karuhanga, yesterday confirmed Museveni's visit but declined to comment on the agenda. The district chairman, Fred Kamugira, said the meeting had been requested by local leaders to share with the President the problems affecting the area. Sources told The New Vision the meeting will among other things tackle the growing rift between the district leadership and the Nyekundire political volunteers group. "The issue of the town clerk must feature prominently. The people want the President's opinion on why the Inspector General of Government's recommendation that the Town clerk, David Bashakara, be fired, has been shelved," a division chairman in Mbarara Municipality said. Sources also said the meeting was convened to map out strategies for the next parliamentary elections in the district. Museveni is also expected to discuss the recently concluded presidential elections. The meeting, scheduled to take place at Kamukuzi headquarters in Mbarara, was organised by the district movement leaders. Meanwhile, the Mbarara RDC Ngoma Ngime, has said Museveni will meet about 70 members of the Nyekundire volunteers group at State House Nakasero next week. Ngime said Museveni was meeting the volunteers to thank them for canvassing support for him during the recently concluded elections. Ends
