By Nicholas Kajoba THE Police in Kangulumira, Kayunga district, on Wednesday stopped angry supporters of Mrs. Victoria Ssebagereka from protesting in the town. The supporters were protesting the recent nullification of s Ssebageraka's candidature to represent women in Kayunga district. Ssebageraka filed a petition in the High Court seeking reversal of the Electoral Commission verdict on her qualification and nomination. Mrs. Florence Nakkonde, Ssebagereka's opponent, was declared unopposed for the district woman parliamentary seat. The angry supporters who were holding placards, were matching towards Nazigo town when the Police intercepted and ordered them to stop their protests. Police officers in Kangulumira said the protest was illegal because the supporters had not communicated to police their intention. Ssebagereka told The New Vision that the injustice being subjected to her is tribalistic. She said, "I am being tortured psychologically because I am not a muganda and that is why my opponents decided to field this girl Nakkonde." Ssebagereka attacked the Police for being one-sided and blocking her supporters from demonstrating. Elections for woman MPs took place yesterday. Ends
