Reggae artist Bebe Cool is the only Ugandan artist yet confirmed for the First Annual African Bound Reggae Summerfest to be held in Kenya.

Reggae artist Bebe Cool is the only Ugandan artist yet confirmed for the First Annual African Bound Reggae Summerfest to be held in Kenya. The Annual African Reggae Summerfest which promises to be one of East Africa’s biggest reggae carnivals will be a two-nights straight reggae concert that will take place both in Nairobi and Mombasa.
The first show will be held August 31, at Carnivore Restaurant. The Second Show will be held September 1, (Reggae Beach Party) at The Arena of Mombasa Show-ground. The third Show will be a VIP Show to be held on September 2 at the Mombasa Beach Party at Komba Cove Disco in Diani Beach. There will also be a fourth concert (Wanaichi Show) after a week on September 8 at Impala Ground in Nairobi. The show is organised by Dread brothers Promotion in conjunction with The Pupa Davis African Foundation “to entertain the East Africa Reggae fraternity.â€
International reggae artist ‘The Cool Ruler’ Gregory Isaacs is expected to fly in straight from Kingston, Jamaica with the Boom Squad Band. A host of other Jamaican artists like Sizzla Kalonji, Yami Bolo, Ninja Ford, Flash and Chronicle are expected. The sound systems will be The mighty Kilimanjaro with Freddy Kuggar from Kingston Jamaica, Shashamane New York Crew and for the first time in East African reggae history, a lady selector, from Shashamane Denmark Crew: Princess T.
Local Kenyan artists expected include Jah’key Marley, Gidi Gidi Maji Maji, the Mighty King Kong and others yet to be confirmed at this stage.
Bebe Cool is the only East African artist not from Kenya who appears on the international artists’ slate, but according to Papa Bingi of Dread Brothers Promotions and Pupa African foundation, the festival organisers’ arrangements are still underway to include more artists from these countries: “A deal is being struck for Uganda and Tanzania, just hold tight,†he said on their website. Bebe Cool said that he had been contacted by one of the organisers but was yet to receive a formal invitation and details of the contract. He however confirmed he will be leaving for Nairobi next Wednesday to prepare for the festival.
