LIRA Municipality MP Cecilia Ogwal has blamed senior UPDF officers for failing to end rebellion in northern Uganda, reports Richard Otim. She said the army “have a hidden agenda on the people of northern Uganda and that is why the conflict in the north cannot end.” Ogwal was recently briefing the German ambassador, Klaus Holderbaum, who visited the municipality. Holderbaum also met Lira mayor Jasper Omodo Anyuru at Taj Palace. Ogwal said the war was a mixture of politics and self-interest by soldiers who want to earn fat war allowances. But army spokesman Phienahas Katirima dismissed her statement.
