NYABYEYA Forestry College, Masindi district has started offering new courses in a bid to encourage poverty eradication

By Gerald Tenywa NYABYEYA Forestry College, Masindi district has started offering new courses in a bid to encourage poverty eradication and conservation of the environment. The Principal of the College, Wilson Kasolo said this is necessary because the use of natural resources has gradually changed over the years. He told Education Vision recently that agro-forestry, bee keeping, energy conservation, carpentry and wood technology had been introduced at the college. Kasolo also said plans underway would make it possible to provide environmental forestry, rural resource management and eco-tourism. “We consider the practical skills to be important because graduates work as extension workers,” he said adding that they have to help farmers out of their problems. Nyabyeya was established about 50 years to equip forest resource managers with knowledge and skills.
