FORMER West Budama MP Tezira Jamwa has been elected chairperson of Forum for Women in Democracy (FOWODE) replacing the Mbarara Municipality woman MP, Winnie Byanyima, whose second term expired last week, reports Milton Olupot.
Jamwa was on Thursday elected unopposed at the FOWODE annual general meeting held at Colline Hotel, Mukono. Byanyima has been the organisation’s chairperson since its founding in 1995, by the women Caucus of the Constituent Assembly. Byanyima served as chairperson for two consecutive terms.
Former minister of state for defence Steven Kavuma was elected new vice- chairman and Sylvia Senabulya the Mubende woman MP treasurer.
Kabakumba Masiko, Margaret Babadiri, Angela Nakafero, Ruth Masika, Patrick Nabutala and Betty Ochan are committee members.
Jamwa thanked the out-going chairperson for her work and pledged to work in partnership with the Government.
