Dear Counsellor, I am a 16-year - old boy in S3. I used to perform well in class work in S1 and S2. However, of late, my performance has dropped so much that my parents are getting concerned. My mother has discussed the issue with my class teacher but the teacher told her that I have become big headed. My father threatened to stop paying my school fees if I fail to improve. What can I do? J.K.M. Kampala. Dear J.K.M., A drop in class performance can be attributed to a number of factors. You may have changed your habits. Try to assess yourself. What kind of friends have you acquired of late? Do you still allocate the right amount of time to your studies? If this is the case, then discuss it with the subject teacher concerned. Your parents have every reason to feel concerned with your class performance. But they should also know that your home environment might be contributing to this. Feel free to discuss this problem with a school counsellor or any teacher who can help. There is always a way out. Do not give up!
