THE Amnesty Commission is happy with the mass surrendering of the LRA rebels of Joseph Kony, reports Justin Moro. An official of the Amnesty Commission, Raphael Makhoa, said there was a positive development towards attaining everlasting peace in the Acholi sub-region. “An LRA major coming out and surrendering with his combatants in response to the Amnesty law is a patriotic decision which is a way forward to bringing peace in Acholiland,” he said. “We in the commission are encouraged to work closely with all stakeholders in Acholi land to bring peace here,” he said. Makhoa was recently speaking a ceremony where the UPDF leadership in Gulu handed over 14 LRA rebels to the Acholi traditional leaders in Got Kal Kwaro, the seat of Acholi chief, Rwot David Onen Acana II.
