ISO Top Ranks Shuffled

Brig. Henry Tumukunde, the new Director General of Internal Security Organisation (ISO), has reshuffled his team.

By Grace Matsiko Brig. Henry Tumukunde, the new Director General of Internal Security Organisation (ISO), has reshuffled his team. The changes, according to security sources, take immediate effect and were in line with recommendations by President Yoweri Museveni to have the department restructured. Lt. Frank Banana, a long serving ISO field worker, becomes south-western Regional Internal Security Officer (RISO) based in Mbarara. RISO is an office created recently under the new ISO structures. In the new set-up, the country is divided into six regions and each is under a regional ISO. Below the RISO is Sector Internal Security Officer (SISO), District Internal Security Officer (DISO) and Gombolola Internal Security Officer (GISO). The latter were working on temporary basis but now become full-time employees. Banana is to be deputised by Lt. Charles Bukondo. Lt. Abel Ngomayondi, who has been DISO for Mbarara, was recalled to ISO headquarters. He is to be replaced by Lt. Ajiku. The sources said Lt. Emmanuel Lindo, who has been at ISO headquarters, political desk, is now the RISO Central. Lt. Ambako Cheburai, formerly DISO Arua is elevated to mid-north RISO based in Gulu. Lt. Emmanuel Musinguzi, an ISO employee for over 15 years, is the new RISO for eastern based in Mbale. RISOs for southern and West Nile are yet to be named. Tumukunde and deputy Col. Elly Kayanja were unavailable for a comment but an officer said, “The changes took place but they are routine. For the new offices, these are meant to simplify our work, to have better supervision and co-ordination.” The changes come less than a month after the security department sacked 91 staffers and returned them to the UPDF for re-deployment. The former ISO staff have been posted to the Chief of Personnel and Administration (CPA) for deployment. Ends
