By Juliet Nankinga THE Chief Justice, Benjamin Odoki, has called upon Parliament to enact the Advocates Bill to allow other Ugandan lawyers trained outside practice law. “I call upon the Parliament to enact this law as a matter of urgency to enable Ugandans who trained outside the country to practice law and liberalise legal education and the legal profession,” Odoki said. He was addressing 56 lawyers including 19 women who were enrolled as advocates of the Courts of Judicature. This was at the High Court in Kampala yesterday. He urged lawyers to respect their obligations to the court, clients, profession and the public as required by the lawyers’ code of conduct and ethics. He also called upon members of the bar to help in the administration and promotion of expeditious and effective justice. Ends
