THE Speaker of Parliament, Edward Ssekandi, has pledged to protect the freedom of the press, reports Dismus Buregyeya. Ssekandi, who was launching Buddu Broadcasting Service FM (BBS) radio station in Masaka on Saturday, warned journalists against the misuse of the freedom of the media. Ssekandi said he welcomes open criticism against the Government in the electronic and print media as long as it is justified. He advised the press to always make corrections and apologies whenever they make mistakes. He said he would oppose a censure board on media reports.
