By Fred Kayizzi. THERE is a scramble for the neem tree seedlings in Kiboga district following Mrs. Janet Museveni's advice that the tree cures malaria. Mrs. Museveni while on a visit to the district two weeks ago, advised the residents to plant the herbal tree in their compounds as a measure against the rampant malaria. The Lwamata sub-county chief, Mr. Moses Mboizi Muzaaya, told The New Vision recently that over 150 farmers had picked the tree seedlings from the UWESO UK Trust nursery bed at Lwamata. He said there had been a "frantic scramble" for the tree seedlings since the first lady's advice. The seedlings which are propagated at the UWESO-sponsored project farm at Lwamata, are now offered free of-charge. While addressing a rally at Lwamata during her visit to the area, Mrs. Museveni told the residents that growing of the Neem tree was the most cost-effective way to combat malaria in the country. Mrs. Museveni was on an inspection tour of projects the ran by the trust. Ends.
