Buwembo joins Express

BIG spending Express has signed a two-year contract with experienced international left winger Ibrahim Buwembo.

By Peter Ekarot BIG spending Express has signed a two-year contract with experienced international left winger Ibrahim Buwembo. Buwembo started traning at King Mutesa II stadium, Wankulukuku yesterday with a multitude of fans on hand to cheer him. Express chairman Godfrey Kirumira said: "We signed Buwembo for his vast experience and he is a very intelligent player and is ours for two years." Buwembo said: "I have come to Express because they have a professional coach to improve on our standards and the club has been my childhood favourite and I hope we do better in 2001 season." Buwembo played for Simba and Coffee and had short semi-professional stints in the Middle East. Express English coach Eddie May said: "Buwembo is a brilliant player and I am happy he has finally come and brings great experience to the young talents." A skilled Lebanese midfielder Amir Dhakik working in Kampala, also trained and wants to play for Express plus Vicko Okello of Military and Simba's Zazak Lingaya. The signing of Buwembo brings to nine internationals from Uganda Cranes. Philip Obwiny, Edward Kalungi, Sam Kawalya, Hassan Mubiru, Jamil Kyambadde, Matthias Kawesa, Fred Makokha and assistant coach player George Semogerere are the others. The Red Eagles face KCC and SC Villa in the 2000 VEK Cup that starts today at Nakivubo stadium. Ends
