THE first ever cricket academy in Uganda ends tomorrow after three weeks of residential training with the International Cricket Council (ICC) development officer for East Africa, Tom Tikolo, and local coach William Kamanyi.
The closing ceremony is set for tomorrow in Lugogo sports gardens.
NCS general secretary Abbey Lutaaya is expected to attend, along with representatives from ICC and officials of UCA.
The general secretary of UCA Justin Ligyalingi said all participants will receive certificates of attendance while those who took part in different aspects will also be recognised.
The fully sponsored ICC academy attracted 40 school boys who were selected from all cricket playing schools to train for the U-19 tournament due next month.
Only 13 players qualified to represent the country in the continental championships.
"UCA is very grateful to ICC for the $ 8000 boost to the academy. It was the first time to hold such a project in Uganda and indeed it was a success," Ligyalingi said.
