By Wilson Manyire Onlookers burst into laughter when a hawker at Diamond Trust building conned a woman and sold her a Christmas tree at Aristoc Booklex. It all started when a good-looking woman parked her car at Diamond Trust. On getting out, her eyes fell on the Christmas decorations, among them trees, outside Aristoc Booklex. It did not take the hawker long to assure her how he was the one in charge of the trees. He told her each cost sh50,000. The woman got out her purse and promptly paid him. The hawker told her that he had to go to the back of the building to get a polythene bag. The bag was to carry the decorations. The hawker never returned. Onlookers who knew that the hawker was not the owner of the trees burst out into laughter. The woman cried but there was nothing. Other hawkers laughed saying, oyo kati kulisimasi agimazzze (meaning, that one has finished his Christmas). The woman swore never to buy from hawkers again since they had proved to be more conmen than any other people. Ends.
