SUPPORTERS of Eng. Sula Katerega, an independent candidate for Buikwe district LC5 chairperson seat stormed a polling station and tasked the presiding officer to explain why she forced polling agents to sign declaration forms at 2:00pm.

The group led by Haruna Wagaba, 22 and Annet Namuddu, 40, stormed Bujjowali Church polling station in Njeru at 4:30pm and demanded for an explanation from Salome Ongodia, the presiding officer.

They accused Ongodia of blocking them from talking to their agents and ordering the Police to chase them away.

Wagaba blamed Ongodia for changing their agents and replacing them with children.

As they argued, Andrew Gidoi the officer in charge of Njeru Police station, arrived and apprehended Wagaba and Namuddu.

“During the presidential and parliamentary elections, some agents did not sign the declaration forms. So we agreed that we sign the declaration forms earlier to avoid what happened during the presidential elections,” Ongodia said.

She added that spaces for the time, date and votes were left blank.

Ongodia blamed the candidates for appointing under aged polling agents.
