Polling agents held over illegal rally

TWENTY-EIGHT polling agents of a former Entebbe mayoral candidate, Sabina Katabazi, were on Thursday remanded to Kigo prison for holding an unlawful assembly.

TWENTY-EIGHT polling agents of a former Entebbe mayoral candidate, Sabina Katabazi, were on Thursday remanded to Kigo prison for holding an unlawful assembly.

The agents were allegedly brought to vote for Katabazi. Police arrested the agents on Wednesday at Katabazi’s home in the Kiwafu zone in Wakiso district.

The Entebbe magistrate, Sunday Dakan, remanded them to prison until Monday when they will appear in court.

The Police charged the agents for holding a meeting and being in an area without proper identification documents. Dakan rejected the agents’ bail application despite their five sureties.

Meanwhile, Katabazi was taken to Entebbe Police station to make statement in connection to his agents.
