EDITOR: The deputy chairperson of Kabarole district, Moses Ikagobya lost to Tom Kihika in the NRM primary elections as a councillor for Buheesi subcounty at the district level.

Without resigning from the NRM, he stood as an independent candidate to represent Buheesi in the same capacity and won. According to the Local Government Act and the Constitution, Ikagobya should immediately resign his seat now as a district deputy chairperson and councillor to represent the people of Buheesi subcounty until the new office bearers are sworn into office.

This is because he no longer serves the interests of the electorate (NRM) which sent him to the district as their representative.

Mugobya, nk'ibaralye!

I call upon the local government minister Adolf Mwesige, the chief administrative officer and the IGG to swing into action now and throw him out of office like what other districts have done to people like him.

He should also refund the salary he has been getting as vice-chair person for Kabarole since he was nominated as an independent candidate. Act now and save the district from losing more money.
