MAURICE Kirya, Uganda’s world music sensation, is set to do a duet with American pop/R&B singer, Jordin Sparks. The lanky artiste with a bohemian hairstyle is definitely elated about the project as he says that this is another opportunity for him to fly the national flag high.

“Every time I receive such an opportunity, I perceive it as a way of promoting my country and dispelling the rumour that my country is riddled with adversities,†he says. The song, to be recorded in the United States, will feature on his upcoming album and is anticipated by many music critics to rock the charts because both artistes are highly talented.
In the past series of months, Maurice’s fortunes in the music industry have shot up after he won two international accolades - the E-World Music Awards and the RFI Discoveries Award. He also won the Young Achievers Award in the music category last year.
The artiste recently returned from a 14-country tour which saw him do 23 concerts in two months courtesy of RFI Discoveries Awards. The artiste also performed at the New Morning Jazz Cafe in France where Jazz and World Music luminaries like Dee Dee Bridewaters, Blick Bassy and Rolling Stones have performed before. The artiste plans a self-sponsored concert to his fans later on in the year.
