The Archbishop of Church of Uganda, Dr Stephen Kaziimba Mugalu, has cautioned parents against asking for too many gifts from their prospective in-laws in exchange for their daughters' hands.

He said this during a service on Sunday at his home in Namirembe, Kampala.

"It's so amazing! A parent asks for 40 cows for dowry. This has made a number of men to withdraw from introduction ceremonies," Kaziimba added.

The Archbishop also urged couples to use this Coronavirus time to hold scientific weddings for their marriage to be blessed.

He prayed for unity in homes and an end to family conflicts that had so far led to a number of deaths.

After the service, Kaziimba sent prayers to the COVID-19 patients and also asked God to comfort the Prime Minister, Dr Ruhakana Rugunda, who is now in self-isolation after some of his contacts tested positive for COVID-19.
