FOUR councillors erred and had to retake their oath at the swearing in ceremony of the Jinja district chairperson and his executive.
The magistrate ordered Rose Mukama, Sylivia Mpabulungi, Loy Kyalo and Richard Mayengo, to repeat their oaths after they made errors during the swearing in on Tuesday at the Busoga Square in Jinja.
LC5 chairman Frederick Ngobi Gume was sworn-in together with 25 district councilors.
Amos Kwizera, the Jinja chief magistrate, officiated at the ceremony.
After swearing in, the councilors convened a meeting where the magistrate guided them on electing the speaker. NRM’s Richard Mayengo and Loy Kyalo emerged speaker and deputy respectively.
Gume appointed Paul Balidawa his vice-chairperson, Asuman Akiiki was named finance secretary as Florence Asio takes charge of education and health while Annet Musika will oversee production.
