THE First Lady, Mrs. Janet Museveni, has urged Ugandans to nurture the spirit of sharing with others to develop the country.
She said young people can learn from their counterparts in other countries to share as a seed they plant in order to expect return.
“The Bible teaches us that as long as the earth remains, there must always be time for sowing and time for harvesting, †Mrs. Museveni said.
She was meeting a team of teachers and students from Trinity International University in the United States of America who paid a courtesy call on her at State House Nakasero on Thursday.
The eleven-man team, led by the dean of students at the University, William Washington, are guests of the Church of Uganda and have been in the country for the last 10 days.
The First Lady hailed them for their giving spirit and for being Uganda’s friends.
She commended the students who contributed towards the construction of a borehole for Mpanga Primary School in Itojo sub-county, Ruhaama county.
“This should teach us, especially our young people, that everybody has something to share as long as the heart is willing. Sharing does not necessarily mean money. It could be water, food, information or many other things,†she said.
She said there was a challenge of people not realising that they have the ability to build a better global village.
Mrs. Museveni also the Minister for Karamoja urged the guests to visit and work in Karamoja which she said was isolated.
The visiting team said they had learnt a lot and were influenced by the beauty of Uganda during their visit to Ntungamo, Jinja , Mbale and Kampala.
