WANDEGEYA'S Kikulu Boys and Arua’s Guinness United will be the teams to beat in the finals of the Guinness football challenge after topping the qualifiers of the ten-weeks event.

In the last qualifying round the De Link bar-based boys and Regal Inn’s united bagged 92 points each-better than any of the sixty two teams that participated in the regional semis countrywide.

After the ten qualifying rounds Guinness United had collected 886.5 points with the Kikulu boys on 827 points.

Other finalists to battle for the sh20m winners’ prize include Bakagwa from Jinja who gathered 522 points, Oyo (579pts) from Kasese, Zivamuntuyo (463pts) from Mbale and Usonghele (422pts) from Fort-Portal.

Nansana’s Eleven Hat-trick (607pts), Gulu’s Big Bangers (596pts) will also be in the fray while Masaka will be represented by Chomaz who garnered 436 points while ‘A’ will represent Mukono.

The rule that required participating teams to accumulate at least 1000 points to reach the finals had to be shaved as none of the competitors raised points above the 900 mark.

Over 400 teams participated in the inaugural challenge whose finals will be held next week at Steak Out in Wandegeya on June 15.

Guinness Marketing Manager, Innocent Tibayeita said he anticipates a tension-packed, exciting and exhilarating final.

“We are extremely impressed with the way teams have embraced and exhibited their love of the game of football through the Guinness challenge and we are ready to reward handsomely whoever exhibits the greatest knowledge of the great game in the final,’’.
